Events
More than 10,000 people flock every year to our Watercress Festival, which we organise for The Watercress Alliance to celebrate the start of the UK season and to launch National Watercress Week.Music, street theatre, cookery demonstrations from Antony Worrall Thompson, children’s cookery classes, the world watercress eating championships, a food market, farm tours and food awards, as well as rides on the world-famous Watercress Line are just a few of the highlights.
As well as providing a great family day out, the festival has been extremely successful in providing a media platform to promote our key messages of health, taste and versatility.
Extensive TV coverage has been generated, including a 5 minute feature for BBC Gardeners’ World, a special GMTV outside broadcast and a 7 minute feature on BBC’s The One Show. Gillian Carter, the editor of BBC Good Food Magazine, has also been one of our Watercress Festival Food Award judges.
